STEPS FUNCTION DESCRIPTION OF SMALL CRUDE OIL REFINERY:

1. Degumming:
– Removes phospholipids and gums by adding water or acid.
– Improves oil stability and clarity.
2. Neutralization (Deacidification):
– Free fatty acids are neutralized using an alkali solution.
– Forms soapstock, which is separated from the oil.
3. Bleaching (Decolorization):
– Adsorbs pigments and remaining impurities using bleaching earth or activated carbon.
– Results in a lighter-colored oil.
4. Deodorization:
– Steam distillation removes volatile compounds responsible for odors and flavors.
